On October 31, the President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili announced his decision to veto the amendments to the Law of Georgia on Electronic Communications adopted by the Parliament the day before. President Margvelashvili sent his substantiated objections and a proposal back to the Parliament.

We, non-governmental organizations united under “This Affects You – They Are Still Listening” campaign, find the decision to postpone the effect of new regulations on secret surveillance to be totally unacceptable. “Failure of the working group to make a final decision on the secret surveillance system” was referred to as a basis for postponement.   However, no sitting of the working group was convened to make the decision to extend work until April 2015 .

We would like to respond to the interview given by the Deputy State Minister of Georgia on Diaspora Issues to the Kviris Palitra newspaper on October 25.[1] The interview contains apparent hate speech towards the head of NGO Identoba, Irakli Vacharadze, and a call for physical reprisals against him.

We, the nongovernmental organizations united under the civil platform No to Phobia! believe that an alarming tendency of late of increased violence against women and femicide requires a joint response from the government, other institutions and the wider society. It must however be noted that the primary responsibility for this response lies with the government.

We call on the government to cease the religious oppression of the Muslim community that has recently become a regular occurrence.

In recent days the public has witnessed dangerous confrontation evolve between representatives of NGOs "Free Zone" and "Free Generation". We would like to express our position in respect of several circumstances.

Non-governmental organizations urge the Parliament of Georgia as well as the State constitution Commission to start immediate discussions on implementation of changes in the election system of Georgia. Recently NGOs have issued a number of statements reiterating the necessity of changes in the election system. All organizations specializing in elections unanimously recognize the necessity and the importance of commencing the work to change the system.
