According to the information provided, employment of total of 155 people was terminated in Tbilisi City Gall during the period from August 1, 2014 through September 7, 2014, including 115 resigned for personal reasons, 32 dismissed for expiration of contract, 5 dismissed for disciplinary liability and 3 based on other grounds.

The below signatory organizations would like to reiterate our concern over the acts of intolerance related to the opening of a boarding school for Muslim students in Kobuleti. We also urge the authorities to take immediate and effective measures for restoring rights for the Muslim community, including right to religion and education.

The public has recently been witness to a conflict between two branches of the government. This conflict is undermining the Constitution and preventing the President from fulfilling his role as it is defined therein. Moreover, it illustrates the emergence of informal governance whereby a private citizen is able to exert undue influence on government.

With this statement we react to reports of recent illegal dismissals of public servants from Tbilisi City Hall and pressure to force them leave their jobs. As they have themselves reported, since early August 2014, together with other employees of Tbilisi City Hall they have been constantly subjected to pressure to force them into “willingly” leaving their jobs.

Regrettably, individual members of the CEC have expressed their concern over monitoring organizations being “incompetent”. Instead of discussing actual problems, the CEC attempted divert the attention from important problems detected in the work of the election administration by criticizing monitoring organizations.
