Report of Monitoring Websites of Local Self-Government Bodies
One of the areas of focus of International Society for Fair Elections and Democracy (ISFED) is promotion of accountable and transparent governance among local self-government bodies.

Contemporary technologies and Internet are an effective way of communicating and obtaining information. To increase the level of government’s transparency, it is important to provide citizens with access to detailed information about government’s activity, which can be achieved by effective utilization of Internet resources. Transparency and accessibility of information promotes public control on public agencies and increases the degree of public involvement. As of 2013, Internet is available to 45% of Georgian population1, meaning that public service websites can play an important role.

From November 1, 2014 to May 1, 2015, ISFED monitored websites of both executive authorities (Gamgeoba/City Hall) and representative authorities (Sakrebulo), including their Facebook websites considering that social media is very popular among Internet users and serves as an effective and efficient way of disseminating information.
